Bob Stone: Actor, Playwright & Producer

Bob has seen many of his one-act plays reach the stage in recent years. One of the most prolific originators of new drama in the Lucilla, Bob has been writing for as long as he has been able to hold a pen. He joined Lucilla DS in 1990.

Picture of Bob StoneWithin a few months Bob staged his one-act black comedy, Her Family. That was followed by a production of a one act drama entitled Trainspotter which entered the Lucilla One Act Play Festival in 1991 and was commended by the adjudicator for its "ear for dialogue". Productions of the Christmas shows Pantomonium and Sleeping Beauty - The TRUE Story, the comedies Maybe On The Night and A Good Idea At The Time, and the dramas In After School * and A Nice View followed, as well as readings of the one act dramas Can't Get There From Here and Watching The Detectives and Bob's first full-length play The Coward With A Kiss.

Bob gets a bit irritated by people asking where he gets his ideas - because he doesn't know. He's more than happy, though for the ideas to keep coming as long as they want.

Bob has also directed and acted in several full length plays for Lucilla Dramatic Society. Most recently Bob played the role of E.J. Scott  in Saving Ardley, a play specially written for the World Wildlife Fund and amateur dramatic groups around the world, by Tudor Gates, the author of the famous Ladies Who Lunch and Who Killed Agatha Christie. In October 2002 Bob directed 'Murder In Play', a comedy thriller by Simon Brett. Bob is currently producing his own play

* ‘In After School', was performed at The 37th Lucilla One-Act Play Festival (A NDFA Affiliated Festival) in May 2002.

It was commended by the Adjudicator for being a ‘cleverly written contemporary play’ and won the Edith Cassady Shield for Endeavour.

Bob's One-Act Play, entitled 'Crossing the Border' was performed at The 38th Lucilla One-Act Play Festival in May 2003. This play won the Edith Cassady Shield for Endeavour, and Kate Sumner (who played The Old Woman) won the Cecil C. Abbotson Trophy for Best Character Actor/Actress.

Never tiring of writing, Bob has just completed a new full-length thriller entitled Killer.
